Alcoholics Anonymous Preamble

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
 

Our mission:
"Our primary purpose is to stay sober, and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety", guided by these words from the preamble of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Goldenisles AA Intergroup seeks to spread the message of A.A. to anyone with a desire to stop drinking. The Intergroup helps achieve this goal by:

     Providing a local AA telephone answering service
     Publishing meeting schedules
     Public information activities
     Publishing a newsletter for the recovering community     
     Providing AA meetings for local correctional and treatment facilities
     Hosting social events for AA members and their friends and families
     Hosting this web site

and many other tasks that help carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Bill W., co-founder of A.A. captured the spirit of A.A. recovery at the 1965 International Convention in Toronto Canada when he said: "Whenever anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that: I am Responsible." 

Guided by the Twelve Step and the Twelve Traditions contained in the "Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Glynn County Intergroup offers these web pages in an effort to expand our outreach to those with a desire to stop drinking.
